What is a Center Console Boat?

Center Consoles are a type of powerboat with the console located in the center of the boat, halfway between the bow and stern. The hull is open and extends to the bow of the boat, with the deck surrounding the console. This makes it easy to walk around from the bow to the stern.

The hull is constructed of either aluminum or Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic. The hull shape can be a Deep Vee, Modified Deep Vee or Cathedral bottom. These boats usually range from 12 � 40 feet, with maximum capacities of 5 � 8 people. The cost of this boat ranges from $7,000 - $300,000, with average cost at $30,000. The most popular propulsion type of these boats is an Outboard engine. However, they can also be a Stern Drive or Jet Drive; with horsepower ranging from 40HP-900HP.
Center Console Boats have very little protection from inclement weather. They also are not equipped with bathroom facilities or sleeping quarters.

There is no engineering limit to the size of jet boats, though the validity of their use depends a lot on the type of application. Ken, Graeme our crew, and I finished with New Zealand Customs at about 9:00 am on Thursday, April 12 and headed out toward Farewell Spit headed to Sydney, Australia in calm conditions. It is important to utilize a boat bill of sale form when buying or selling a used boat. A bill of sale form provides the seller with proof that the new owner is now legally responsible for the boat. For the buyer, a bill of sale form is proof of purchase that the boat is theirs.

When utilizing a boat bill of sale form, it is suggested that it contains the following;

1. the name and residential address of the purchaser.

2. the name and residential address of the seller.

3. a thorough description of the vessel, including make, model and hull identification number.

4. the sale price.

5. the time and date of sale.

6. the signatures of both the buyer and the seller.

Many states in the US will need you to provide a boat bill of sale form before you can register the boat in your name. It is probable that each state may have a slightly different process by which the registration occurs, but the basic information listed above is common to all states and required everywhere.

A boat bill of sale form when correctly filled out provides protection and security for both the buyer and the seller. The seller is protected as they now have proof as to when the boat was legally transferred. All monies owed or fines accrued on the vessel after this time are now the responsibility of the new owner. Similarly the purchaser is protected as they have a record of the date at which they bought the boat and anything that happened before that date can be shown to be the result of the previous owners actions.

All buyers and sellers of second-hand boats are advised to make use of a boat bill of sale form for their own protection and peace of mind.

Building your own boat will likely cost more than buying one and could prove to be a safety hazard as well. Insuring it or passing government inspections/regulations my be difficult also. Patterns for the sections of the inflatable collar are hard to get and it is unlikely a manufacturer will supply them or that a dealer would have them. However, if you really want to try, a dealer will likely sell you the fabric, glue, parts, etc.

Water Purification On Boats

I came across this product AQUA SALVEO for water purification. Just wondering has anyone used this product OR any other product to do this job. My boat has been sitting for 4 years now and I suspect the water is maybe older than that. I can't remove the tanks without some major demolition and reconstruction work so is this the best alternative.

A lot of damage can be done to your boat by animal droppings, acid rain, salt, and dirt. Your boat is made of different types of material such as canvas, fiberglass, and metal. This means that cleaning your boat requires that you pay attention to cleaning these specific materials. This is not "how much does it cost to cruise." This isn't "How much did you spend in Fiji?" This is, "what do you spend on a monthly or weekly basis in the various ports while cruising?" It doesn't have to be exact, and shouldn't be overblown, but this is intended to buttress the arguments of many destination-based businesses that cruising sailors are good for the local economy.
