Tough Boat Ladders Made of Stainless Steel

By Joe Wilson

For the best in durable, corrosion free entry and exit from your boat you'll want one of the vast array of stainless steel boat ladders available online.

Let's take a look at the many ladder options for boats at the numerous retailer or auction sites. One marine supply company alone has ten different stainless steel boat ladders to offer as well as accessories for your ladder and boat.

The first is a four-step stainless steel ladder with four steps and a hook 11 inches long. This boat ladder is sturdy and comfortable to bear feet, with plastic steps that are molded, a highly visible white, with plenty of traction.

The diameter of this ladder for boats is one inch, with tubing made of aluminum and hooks that are thick and covered in vinyl. The standoffs have cushioned tips and are adjustable and made of all aluminum.

If you prefer, you can choose a ladder with only three steps, or one with a hook that is only 7 inches long. The smaller ladders retail for $29.92, where the larger ones are $34.92.

If space is a problem your choice of boat ladders might be a telescoping ladder for boats that is compact and stows in much less space. It can easily fit into a typical boat storage locker. Its steps are white poly, with excellent traction and one inch diameter tubing made of stainless steel with a capacity of 250 pounds. The 11-inch hook folds up easily. You can choose three or four steps, at a price range of $103.25-$114.93.

Hints On seadoo jetboat

All vessels have keels, it is the backbone of the hull. In traditional construction it is the structure upon which all else depends. Modern monocoque designs include a virtual keel. Even multihulls have keels. On a sailboat the word Keel is also used to refer to the area that is added to the hull to improve its lateral plane. The lateral plane is what prevents leeway and allows sailing towards the wind. This can be an external piece or a part of the hull.

Since Sea Doos come from the factory with about as much power as they could offer and keep reliability, modifications almost always shorten the engines time before a rebuild is needed. Therefore, my philosophy is "if you want to go faster, buy a faster STOCK Sea Doo!". A modified 2 stroke wont last long and is usually the cause of peoples complaints about them. Adding a high compression head and other engine mods will ultimately lead to a rebuild sooner than later. If you want your 2 stroke Sea Doo to go faster, buy a stock Sea Doo with a larger engine!

Guide to Jet Ski Rental

By Dennis Wilks

An outing on the beach or lake with the family can be very fun. However, if you want to add a little bit of spice on your outing, renting a jet ski would surely spice things up. Jet skiing can be very fun and you dont have to worry about getting seriously injured by getting thrown out of the vehicle.

If you dont know what to do in order to have some fun on your family, worry no more. First you must organize everything on your family outing, such as food, gas, location and stuff that you will use (tanning lotion, blankets, towel, etc.) Once that is done, just add some more details on the family outing, like the things that you must bring (Frisbees, beach balls, etc.) and the things that you wan to do on the outing. If you want to jet ski, you can look for the nearest jet ski rental on the local paper or the yellow pages.

The most practical way to look for a jet ski rental is by searching for a jet ski rental on the internet or at the resort of park you are going. If the family outing that you have planned is a packaged deal, there surely are options wherein you can add a little amount for jet ski rental. Most of these types of deals are available on the online sites of the resort or park; or at the resort or park itself. There are numerous online websites that offer jet ski rentals wherein you can use their units for a certain period on a specified date. This way, you can make use of the jet ski for the whole length of your family outing, if you are on a 3 day family vacation, then you can make use of the jet ski for three days. The jet ski rental shops also provide their customers with a trailer and tie down to transport the jet ski. Also, these rental shops online do not only have jet skis available, they also have other types of personal watercrafts of which you can rent.

It is best that you must first check the availability of the unit first before you go on you family outing. Generally, almost all of the beach resorts and some parks have jet ski available for their patrons. However, the rentals of these locations are by the hour meaning you can only rent them for a few hours and are restricted on a certain area only.

In order to have the best rental deal, it is best that you visit a few jet ski rental sites before closing in for a deal. This way you can greatly enjoy your family outing on the beach or lake.

A Study of Boat Covers

By Susan Fielding

A lot of people aspire to own their very own sailboat and sail up and down the coasts of the world in brilliant sunshine. It is a great activity, and it is enjoyed by millions of people throughout the world. Simply owning your own boat with many accessories is not the end though. The proper maintenance is what will keep your boat running for a long while. Take care of your boat at all times, as well as the accessories that go with it.

Although boats are not living organisms like human beings, they are though also subject to natural deterioration from the elements. If you do not pamper your loved possession, then with time, it will become worthless to you and not perform the way you need it to.

Providing added attention to a cover for your boat is required to keep your boat in pristine condition at all times. They keep dust, snow, harsh rain, and other elemental factors away from your boat. If you do not protect your boat from these harsh elements, then the lovely friend called corrosion will show up and immediately devalue this prized possession.

There are many options when it comes to boat covers. The best options are custom boat covers. They are created to satisfy the customers needs, and come in many different styles. You might want to bear in mind a few things before buying a boat cover. It is up to you to make sure that you measure your boats dimensions accurately. Conduct some online research, as to the various types of covers there are, the fabrics they are made of, and the customer reviews for that product. All soft fabrics are ideal for custom boat covers. A fabric that is strong and flexible at the same time is an important part as well. Covers made of such fabric keeps the boat protected from the far reaching effects of direct sunlight and the elements at large. These can include rust and corrosion.

There are many online retailers that you can have to build your custom boat cover for you. It does not matter where or how you buy your cover, always do the research before buying. Whether you buy online or offline, do not buy before doing some research. Custom boat covers come in many different colors and various fabrics and in just about any price range. So you have a wide array of choice to choose from for all your boat cover needs. Do not rush into anything; take your time in researching the proper cover, and then you are ready to protect your investment.

Learn More About river jet boat

Swinging moorings tend to be the cheapest way of mooring a boat, although some sort of winter storage may need to be considered. Swinging moorings are provided in rivers, estuaries, harbours or in other areas of sheltered water. They consist of a buoy which is attached by chains to a heavy sinker which lies on the river or sea bed. Your boat is attached to the buoy and will then swing around in the water according to the direction of the tide - hence the name. To get to your boat you will need to use a small craft like a dinghy or inflatable tender.A mooring in a tidal area will probably mean that the boat is high and dry for some period of time and it is wise to choose one which will sit down comfortably, probably on bilge keels. If you choose to moor your boat in tidal water then you may come across the terms Mud Berth, Half Tide, and All States Of Tide. A Mud Berth is where the tide will go out and leave your boat sitting in the mud until the tide comes in again, which restricts the times as to when you can use your boat. In this case it would be worth contacting the mooring operator to find out when the best times are for using your boat. Half Tide is when the tide will be in at your mooring for about half the time of the full tide. All States Of Tide means that your boat will be afloat all of the time, moorings in these areas tend to be more expensive than the mud berths as you can use your boat at any time

Personal water crafts present safety concerns in terms of their ability to steer. Since steering is achieved from aiming the nozzle of the pump jet, there is no rudder involved, which means the craft cannot be steered in an emergency breakdown situation. Also, steering is significantly reduced when the throttle is not being applied; this leads to dangerous situations because it is against one's instinct in an emergency to accelerate. However, turning is not effective without doing so. After market products are available to help with this problem, including different types of rudder steering systems such as Cobra Jet Steering. In 2001 Sea-doo added the O.P.A.S. (Off-Power Assisted Steering) system which uses rudders installed on the rear sides of the PWC to assist in steering.

Traditional sailboats are monohulls, but multi-hull catamarans and trimarans are gaining popularity. Monohull boats generally rely on ballast for stability, and generally are known as displacement hulls. This stabilizing ballast can be on the order of multiple tons of lead, for a 12m (39 Ft.) boat. However, it creates two problems; one, that this gives the monohull a tremendous inertia, making it less maneuverable and reducing its acceleration. Secondly, if the boat ever fills with water, it will sink immediately, without question.

Boat Insurance - Which One for You?

By John Gibb

You might not have realised it, but boat insurance is the oldest kind of insurance there is. People have been insuring their boats since the 17th century, and over time a number of standards have arisen. The chances are, though, that youre probably much more familiar with car insurance so the good news is that car insurance and boat insurance are actually very similar.

Basically, there are three situations you can be insured against: your boat (or its cargo) being damaged, your boat sinking, and your boat hitting another. Although few countries make it a requirement that your boat must be insured (considering how many boats sail in international waters), you would be very wise to at least buy the third party insurance, in case you hit a boat that is very much more valuable than your own. You will probably find it quite unnecessary to insure your boat against total loss unless it is very valuable it is mainly practical for large ships, and especially for ones carrying valuable cargo.

As with car insurance, policies come with an excess to discourage small claims for boat insurance, this is usually quite a large sum of money, as the intention of the insurance is to cover you against substantial losses instead of just scratches and dents.

There are also a few kinds of insurance you can buy that are unique to boating, although it is unlikely that you will ever find yourself in need of them. If you get Increased Value insurance, your policy will pay out at your boats market value if it is more than the amount you insured it for only useful if you expect your boat to go up in value. Finally, if youre thinking of sailing into a warzone, you might want to get war risk insurance. Of course, you might also want to get your head checked out, if you know what I mean.

According to the Guiness Book of Motorboating, the history of the inflatable boat goes back as far as 880 BC, when the Assyrian king Ashurnasirpal II ordered troops to cross a river using greased animal skins, which they inflated continuously to keep the vessels afloat. In ancient China, during the Sung and Ming dynasties, inflated, airtight skins were used for crossing rivers.

The SEADOO company has been producing personal watercraft since 1988 and will be celebrating its 20th year in business in 2008. They did however invent the sport with the first sit down Sea Doo in 1968 and 1969. However due to the engine technology of the time they abandoned the product for almost 20 years. Sport Boats were introduced in 1994 and used the same Rotax 2-Stroke engines used in their jet-skis. In 2003, SEADOO began to use Four-Stroke Rotax engines which were all fuel injected, and in certain models, were supercharged and intercooled to increase performance. All SEADOO models have 4-Stroke Rotax engines except for the one-person 3D-DI model which needs to use a 2-stroke engine in order to lessen weight. The most powerful option ever offered by these engines is Twin Rotax 4-Tec engines only in Sport Boats that combine two 215 hp (160 kW) supercharged intercooled engines used in the Speedster and 230 challenger models rated at 430 combined horsepower. Their new RXP-X and RXT-X now have 255 horsepower the most in the industry with a 0-50 mph speed in less than 2.9 seconds.

All the woodwork on the boat should be varnished every year to keep it looking smart, though check with the specification of the varnish to see whether it needs to be carried more or less regularly. Brasswork and Chromework should also be kept polished, not only to keep it looking good but also to stop deterioration.
